Culture coverage in Detroit often suffers from a lack of resources or a lack of access. National outlets drop in for a weekend to confirm what they already think, while local coverage is often limited to press releases.
We operate differently. We treat art coverage as a beat that requires physical presence. That means our team is out in the city constantly, filming interviews during install weeks, recording sets at underground venues, and publishing long-form conversations that give the artists space to explain their process. We are building a permanent archive of a scene that is constantly moving.
